Business travelers know that there are two essential factors that need to be considered whenever one is purchasing an ultraportable laptop. The first is that an ultraportable laptop should be small enough to carry around whenever one is traveling, and it should be light enough not to cause physical pain at the end of the day. The second consideration is functionality. Most ultraportable laptops get stripped down to the minimum features as a sacrifice to size and weight, but they should nonetheless help the business traveler work whenever he or she is mobile.

Of all the Apple MacBooks available in the market today, there is no doubt that MacBook Air is the thinnest, sleekest and lightest laptop they have at the moment. Any Apple MacBook enthusiast would find the MacBook Air tempting enough at first glance to shell out a couple of thousand dollars. But if you are thinking of getting yourself one, consider reading first the list below of the ten essential things you need to know before you buy a MacBook Air.

First five on the list are the pros of the MacBook Air.

Core 2 Duo processor. The MacBook Air comes with a repackaged 1.6 GHz Core 2 Duo processor specially made by Intel for the MacBook. Sure, it is visibly slower than most desktops, but it is fast enough to satisfy and it will not cause the MacBook Air to burn your lap.

Backlit LED screen. The MacBook Air may be slim, but you would not have any problems with the width of its LED screen. At 13 inches, this screen is bigger than those of most ultraportable laptops.

Full-sized keyboard. Many laptops have keyboards that are too small to be used. This ultrathin Apple MacBook thankfully did not sacrifice the pleasure of typing on a full-sized keyboard just to shave off a few inches in size.

Fast wireless access. With a good router, the MacBook Air can transfer up to 4 MBps of data, enough to satisfy even speed crunchers.

The Leopard OS. The Apple Macbook’s Leopard OS is considered to be a breakthrough by MacBook users, especially since it supports multi-finger gestures on the touchpad.

Now, for the cons.

Ports. The MacBook Air has only three ports – a USB 2.0 port, a micro-DVI and an input for the headphone.

Battery. The MacBook Air does not have a user-replaceable battery, which could be a problem if the user has no access to a main power source. With minimum use, the battery life of this Apple MacBook is only less than three hours.

Disk drive. The disc drive is a slow 80 GB 1.8 inch unit. You can upgrade it to a 64 GB SSD one, though.

Remote Disk. This MacBook does have a Remote Disk to replace an actually drive, but it is only good for installing software, downloading data and reinstalling the OS in case of problems.

Separate SuperDrive. The MacBook Air does have its very own optical USB SuperDrive, but it is sold separately.

Considering buying a MacBook Air? Think on these ten things first before you do and decide for yourself if this Apple Macbook is indeed a good buy.

A laptop, also called a notebook, is a small mobile computer. Depending on the size, material used for manufacturing it and other factors, its weight ranges from 1 to 8 kilograms (i.e. 2 to 18 pounds).

The source of power is usually a single main battery, or an external AC/DC adapter is used. Apart from supplying power to the laptop, it also charges the battery. To avoid havoc in case of power failure, a 3 Volt cell is provided to run the clock and other vital system processes.

Though laptops are equally capable and powerful as desktop computers, they are much more expensive than similar capability and configuration desktop computer. Size is the unique property of a laptop. The components used in both, laptops and desktops are the same in terms of the functions they perform, but the components in laptops are miniaturized and made to support efficient power consumption.

LCD (Liquid Crystal Display) is usually the technology used for the display screen. They have a built-in keyboard and a touchpad as input devices. Provision is also made for connection of external mouse, and even keyboard.

Apart from the advantages like compactness and mobility, a set of disadvantages has also been associated with laptops.

A huge amount of discrepancy is observed when it comes to standardization issues of laptops. There exist worldwide standards for form factors of the peripherals and add-in PC cards used in a desktop computer. But no such standards are as yet enforced for form factors of laptop internals. Electric voltage, motherboard layouts, internal adapters used in connecting the hard disk, optical drive, LCD cable, keyboard and floppy drive to the main board, all still face issues with standardization. These hits hard on the poor user who is uneducated in this relevant field. Apart from them, a bit of difficulty may also be faced by the repair technicians. Familiarization of different parts and hardware that perform the same function is important.

As an outcome of the improper, or all most no standardization, the laptops suffer compatibility problems too. Most of the times, it is not possible to use one manufacturer`s components in the laptop produced by another manufacturer. The reasons behind this can be assurance of product stability, prolong product lifetime, and to avoid dubious warranty issues. Some manufacturers provide the laptops with a set of ports to let the user connect the hardware that he wants to use.

Upgradation of a laptop is another issue. Due to both technical and economic reasons, it is limited. Due to the proprietary designs of the laptops by each manufacture, it is difficult to upgrade them and most of the times even repairing is a costly affair. The standard peripherals, like audio, video, USB, 1394, Wi Fi, Bluetooth, are integrated in the motherboard. Upgrading these thus requires either of external ports, card slots or wireless peripherals. As far as the memory units and batteries are concerned, they can generally be upgraded according to the user`s needs.

Performance is another issue. RAM is shared between program memory and graphic adapters in laptops. Because of which performance of the laptop is affected. The major concern of the designer is compactness and energy efficiency against high performance. Generally, for the home requirement, laptops prove out to be good options for fast achievement of required performance. With new technology like dual core processors and perpendicular recording, laptops` performance is already showing a progressive graph when compared to the desktops.

Laptops can also pose health hazards. Temperature generated by laptop can affect sterility in men. Also, laptop keyboard can lead to RSI (Repetitive Strain Injury). Thus it is advised to place the laptop on a table or desk when working.

Fujitsu’s new flagship desktop replacement laptop spoils graphics professionals with a stunning work environment and tons of storage. That’s one big thing it has in common with its predecessor, the Life Book N6420, but the newer N6460 is also a better entertainment unit. Battery life is shorter–it ran out of juice in less than 1 hour in our recent tests–and it still leaves Bluetooth fans out in the cold. But all in all, the Fujitsu LifeBook N6460 is an improvement over the N6420.

The N6460 is bulky, measuring 2 inches thick and weighing almost 10 pounds when configured with a single hard drive. However, both creative professionals and discerning home users will appreciate its rich design. A 370-nit 17-inch screen is standard, even in the base $1499 configuration. The screen is twice as bright as most screens, with vivid colors and easy-to-see details, making entertainment more fun and close work more comfortable.

This machine doesn’t make any attempt to insult your intelligence by being needlessly pretty or “personalized” (can something be personalized if it’s mass produced? Perhaps that’s what Apple’s engraving deal is all about). As a result, it’s big, it’s grey, it’s well built, it’s non offensive, but neither is it inspiring.

A full sized keyboard and separated numpad lets you know you’re in desktop replacement land, other than the obvious 17-inch 1,440 x 900 resolution glossy screen which rightfully dominates the view.

Ports dot the left, right and rear, but wisely there is nothing on the front. The air vent at the rear means no hands will be cooked while using external mouses.

The LifeBook N6460 features a sturdy, fairly large grey case. Its size is not surprising considering the amount of hardware inside of it. On the case’s exterior are a ton of hook ups for every type of peripheral imaginable. It has five USB 2.0 ports, IEEE 1394, a memory card reader that accepts Memory Stick, SD, and XD, a PC Card slot, and an Express Card slot. The N6460 also features a Fire wire port, RCA audio in, composite, S-Video in and out, VGA and HDMI ports, that come in handy for a variety of video functions. It is also the first LifeBook to come with a Blu-ray disc drive. Blu-ray discs are capable of storing five times as much information as a regular DVD, so this feature is quite attractive.

The LifeBook N6460’s screen is widescreen, sized at 17 inches with a resolution of 1440×900 pixels. The keyboard is full size with a separate numerical pad similar to those usually reserved for desktop keyboards. The N6460’s keyboard also features a dedicated four way media button that can be customized to open any number of programs. Another fancy keyboard feature is the Visual Optimizer button. This allows the computer to switch from PC mode to video mode in order to provide the best visual settings for both regular PC applications and video use.

Fujitsu’s LifeBook N6460 uses an Intel PM965 chipset along with a Core 2 Duo processor. It includes an ATI Mobility Radeon HD 2600 video card that provides DirectX 10 compatibility. The LifeBook N6460 is available with up to 500 gigabytes worth of storage that is provided by two separate hard drives.

Annoyingly the speakers had a propensity to occasionally squeal due to hard drive activity when they weren’t in use, and while there was a subwoofer on the bottom, it didn’t seem to contribute largely to the overall sound. The speakers being placed at the front of the notebook was also a poor design decision, as the sound is muffled when you type.

The N6460 did well in the benchmarks though, busting out a respectable 3630 on 3DMark06, and an equally respectable 5170 in PCMark05.

For battery life things were a bit grim as they always are with desktop replacements, clocking in at a tiny 31 minutes and 36 seconds while playing back a DVD, all power saving options turned off and all settings pushed to maximum. While this is a particularly grueling test, it shows that you won’t want to take this thing away from the wall for too long. The space in which you can insert a battery is limited as well, meaning the possibility of upgrading to a juicier battery has been effectively nixed.

This is also a notebook you don’t want on your lap — it gets far too hot far too quickly. Interestingly Fujitsu’s unique heat pads usually included on the bottom also aren’t present — perhaps the intent was that it would never be on your lap

Trying to determine which one of the hundreds of registry repair tools will clean up your PC the best? This article might just be for you. We’re going to discuss three of the top registry repair tools, more specifically Regcure, Registry Easy, and Registry Fix in a detailed registry repair review. By the end of this article you should be able to pick one of these programs and feel confident that it will scan and clean out your windows registry to improve speed and performance. Is Regcure Worth the money?

Like the most popular registry repair tool reviewed based on a search in Google. There are literally thousands of sites that mention this product, the good bad and the ugly. Like most programs If you read some of the sites that review this product there are pros and cons. While the product gets the job done, it doesn’t do much else then scan your registry and offer the benefit of automatically repairing errors or taking your manual input to repair items.

While Regcure does offer a backup feature, you must remember to turn it on prior to starting the repair process. Other wise once changes are made their permanent. Not a bad program, but I think it gains it’s popularity based on a massive amount of hype on the web.

Why Would I consider using Registry Fix?

Honestly, I can’t tell you why anyone would consider registry fix, considering there are so many other programs out there to choose from. The produce does what it’s supposed to do, scan your system registry for particular types of errors, and then it repairs those. How ever that’s it, there are no added features to the product at all. Mind you it does offer backup feature, and you can download a free scan utility (like most registry repair tools) to try before you buy, but the whole appearance of their website, the interface of the software just sort of turned me off.

How does Registry Easy Differentiate itself?

Now the dark horse in my registry repair review. Not as readily talked about on the web, how ever every bit as functional as Regcure, Registry Easy was my favorite program. Yes it offered a free scan utility, yes it provides backup capability, and yes it will automatically or manually allow you to repair the errors it finds. How ever it wasn’t in it’s registry repair capability that I grew to like this tool, it was the added options included.

Registry easy was more of a complete PC utility tool, rather then just a windows registry cleaner. It offers a junk file cleaner, evidence eraser, and a system organizer. All parts of the program that go above and beyond cleaning the windows registry, but are very useful to the average Joe or Jane using their computer for a lot of Internet surfing.

All three registry repair tools did what they’re supposed to do, and that is scan and repair the windows registry. Of course one stood out above all the rest in my registry repair review, and that program was Registry easy. How ever I’d suggest running both the free scan utility from Regcure and Registry Easy before making a final decision on which tool is best for your computer.
